How do we choose which villages receive new water wells? Field Director Raul Diole meets with villages that are requesting a well. He does a site survey and completes an application form. Details are gathered regarding population, how far they walk for dirty water, how far away from a clean water source, and willingness to form a well committee to maintain the well. This report is sent to our office for final approval.
How do you make sure water wells with hand pumps keep in working order?
We drill our wells on church properties. From the church, a Water Well Committee is formed, comprised of individuals who are trained--with hands-on experience--on how to fix the few working parts of the pump. All 119 water wells that have been drilled are flowing with clean, safe water!
Won't you run out of villages to drill water wells in? No. Currently we drill in Zambezia province (population of over 5 million) in Maganja da Costa district. "The harvest is great and the workers are few. "--Luke 10:2
